On October 14, 1970, the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center welcomed Nancy Nightwine, a local Hershey resident, as their very first patient. Mrs. Nightwine was admitted to the brand new hospital for diagnostic tests along with patients transferred from the Hershey Hospital when it closed on that same day.
